The Pell City Schools Health Services Department is dedicated to the encouragement of health and wellness for all students and staff. Our primary goal is to support student learning. Believing that optimal health promotes learning, we want to provide services that foster student and staff health and safety.

Health Information for Parents
Pell City Schools follows the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) Communicable Disease Guidelines and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommendations for school exclusions and readmission criteria.
Guidance for when to keep a child home from school due to illness:
- Fever: If your child has an oral temperature of 100.0 degrees or higher, he/she should not attend school until they are fever-free for twenty-four (24) hours without using fever-reducing medication.
- Cough: If your child’s cough brings up mucus or phlegm-type secretions, (especially if the secretions have color).
- Runny nose: If your child must constantly blow his/her nose to keep it clear.
- Sore throat: If it hurts to swallow, breathe, or speak.
- Rashes: Any undiagnosed rashes. If your child is itching and scratching to the point they cannot concentrate.
- Vomiting and/or Unexplained Diarrhea: Two (2) or more episodes within a 24 hour period.
- Untreated Pink Eye, Impetigo, or Head Lice: Should not attend school.
