PCSS National Board Certified Teachers

What is a National Board Certified Teacher?

Every student deserves to be taught by an accomplished teacher. National Board Certification was designed to develop, retain and recognize accomplished teachers and to generate ongoing improvement in schools nationwide.

Most classroom teachers are certified by the states in which they teach.  They must complete and pass coursework and exams as outlined in their state's standards.  However, a National Board Certified teacher has completed additional standards beyond what state's require and has also demonstrated effective, research-based instructional practices in the classroom. It is the most respected professional certification level available for K-12 educators.
